Data Warehouse Analyst / Developer
The Data Warehouse Analyst has shared responsibility for the creation and maintenance of the company's data warehouse. This position works closely with customers and other colleagues in the IT department to acquire operational data, define the data warehouse schema and deliver actionable data via Cognos BI (as well as the Cognos CPM tools Controller, Planning and Forecasting). This technical position works as a key integrator of data and access tools.
30% Datawarehouse Architecture/Infrastructure:
• Evolve the company's key business data models such as accounting, real estate asset management, hotel operations and property management to meet new and changing business requirements.
• Develop, test, manage, schedule and document data warehouse operations and tasks including extraction, movement, loading, security, backup, and aggregate table creation.
• Implement automatic and semi-automatic processes for incremental refresh of the data warehouse.
• Assist business and IS managers in developing detailed plans to accomplish approved projects.
• Design conceptual and logical models for the data warehouse or data mart.
• Report status to manager, as requested, and react immediately to any potential delays.
• Acquire and improve skills in new technologies through education and professional organizations.
20% Application Development / Deployment: Performs systems analysis, design, development (via Microsoft .net), testing, debugging, and documentation for business applications and systems integration projects.
15% SQL Server: Advanced knowledge of SQL in an Microsoft SQL server context. Implement data scripts and manage performance related data models.
15% Business Analysis: Work with data warehouse users and report authors to develop system requirements, specifications, and designs. Meet with users to plan and develop detailed requirements.
10% Report Creation: Work with end users to develop reports using Cognos ReportNet and PowerPlay. Help develop and ensure reporting standards across the company's applications
10% General Application Support: Resolve system problems as required
Position Specifications
Education and Experience:
BA/BS in Computer Science or similar with a minimum of 3+ years relevant I/T experience. 2+ years experience with the following: dimensional modeling, OLAP tools, Cubing, building and maintaining complex reports using Business Intelligence applications such as Cognos ReportNet or Cognos Powerplay, developing relational database technology solutions to include SQL, stored procedures, triggers, logical and physical modeling. Experience with developing .Net C# applications and financial accounting/reporting experience a plus. This enthusiastic person must enjoy working as a team and meeting new challenges.
