LAN/WAN Administrator

Primary Function: Part of a global IT team supporting North America and South America. Responsible for the operation of the network infrastructure components to include network implementation, network troubleshooting, solution documentation and phone system management.

Responsibilities:

  • Network – Works as part of Global Network Team to plan, manage, monitor and upgrade Global Network installation including VPN, LAN, WAN, Wireless, VoIP and video conferencing.
  • Must respond to text email and phone reporting of outages 7x24x365.
  • Works with local and remote server and email administrators.
  • Works with web server managers to provide appropriate security and access to web servers in DMZ. Troubleshoot 2nd and 3rd tier trouble tickets regarding routing, name resolution, permission, NAT, etc.
  • Must proactively monitor global using a variety of tools – CheckPoint tracker, Solar Winds Orion, Cisco LMS and Cisco Quom Monitor data circuit usage and recommend capacity changes as needs dictate Must be familiar with configuration of Cisco routers, switches, wireless and VoIP Support remote user VPN clients.
  • Open trouble tickets with telco when circuit problems arise.
    Phone System
  • On a daily bases will support and maintain the regional Interactive Intelligence phone system
  • Will work with the Telecom Coordinator, Customer Service Manger, Facilities Director and vendors to collectively manage the voice needs and call center needs.
  • Work toward global VoIP solution implementation
  • Open trouble tickets with telco when problems arise; follow-up and problem resolution
    Knowledge/skill Specifications:
  • Must be familiar w/ Nokia IPSO O/S or other Unix/Linux variations (must be comfortable working from the command line)
  • Must be familiar w/ Nokia Voyager interface; CheckPoint Al in a global environment of 30+ sites; Solar Winds Orion; Knowledgefront; IP Ultramon; Videoconferencing
  • High availability with excellent response time from an end user point of view.
  • Good customer feedback and responsiveness related to 2nd level support incidents
    Experience:
  • 3+ yrs professional experience including project experience; 1+ yrs international experience; 3+ yrs cross functional or cross discipline experience
    Education:
  • Four-year college degree in computer science, management information systems (MIS), information technology, or an approved related degree.
