Mechanical Design Engineer
Position Summary: This position is responsible for the design, development and implementation of machines and processes that will facilitate the manufacture of our product lines.
General Responsibilities:
- With minimal direction: conceptualize, develop, refine, and implement custom production equipment and manufacturing processes.
- Manages machine build activities by coordinating the manufacture of machines utilizing either internal shop or outside vendors through to debug and installation
- Supervise the installation and integration of purchased production equipment.
- Provide technical assistance to Marketing and Manufacturing Engineering in the design of new products and the selection of materials and processes
- Responsible for all modeling and drafting activities using Inventor and AutoCAD Mechanical software while ensuring conformance to company and industry standards.
- Contribute in the preparation of documentation for installation, operation and maintenance of equipment and processes
- Provide engineering support to continuous improvement activities. Also responsible for active participation in team meetings for special projects
- Responsible for the effective communication of engineering information among those involved in the implementation of a project or program. Provides detailed direction to engineering technicians and other support personnel
- Travel as required to implement machines and process.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
- The ideal candidate would be a degreed engineer (BSME) with five years of relevant automation experience in Web Handling, Assembly, and packaging equipment
- Must be able to manage and lead multiple projects at the same time
- Ability to perform a variety of engineering calculations (structural, kinematics, dynamics, etc.) • Has a thorough understanding of engineering practices and manufacturing processes
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills
- CAD (Inventor and AutoCAD) skills a definite plus.
